You talked about the stories that are told about all colonized peoples meant to dehumanize them. I hear the words 'every accusation is a confession' said about the Zionists, because they are projecting their hatred and rage about the Jewish Holocaust onto the Palestinians. It seems to me that ALL dehumanization throughout history is actually our own projected shadow, and until we change that cycle, and bring our shadow into consciousness and integrate it, we will continue to fail learning that lesson and repeat endless wars and cycles of violence. Do you know any groups of historians and psychologists or therapists that are working to explicitly document this projection as reflected in human history, please? Thanks and keep up the great work!
As someone who is permaculture certified and has read Dr. Lyla June Johnston's dissertation 'Architects of Abundance', I watched this lecture with great interest. I noticed that the two major differences between permaculture and the practices outlined in Dr. Johnston's work are kincentricity and cultural burning. You are the first person working in food growing systems I have found outside of the 'indigenous' world (at least as far as I know) that is actively engaged in both of those practices. I imagine you are familiar with Dr. Omer Stewart's book 'Forgotten Fires', which highlights the extent of fire as a tool in building healthy ecosystems by Indigenous Peoples all over Turtle Island. Although I am only a beginner in the practice of prescribed fire, you taught me two new things: 'fire is medicine' and 'three years after fire, there will be water'. Thank you so much for that! If you don't already know, Dr. Elinor Ostrom won a Nobel Prize in Economics by studying resilient societies and found eight design principles that were common to all. One of the societies was at least 1000 years old. "Governing the Commons" was the book about this finding. I'm trying to find my way back to my own ancestors and their Indigenous lineages and teachings (which are likely all European), but have not yet found someplace to have an autosomal DNA test that isn't owned by some nefarious capitalist entity. I'm open to suggestions for how I could safely get that done, please. I tried emailing UCSF leaders about your suspension, but the emails came back. I'm open to suggestions for email addresses I could use. Keep up the great work for the Earth!
I appreciate your lens on societal responsibility, in a New Age when the holy grail of personal responsibility is weaponised, when pop-psychology is a front for neoliberalism. You said it so well: treat the environment, not just the person.

Lyla June is a dear friend and has taught me a lot about fire ecology and Indigenous stewardship of soils!
