Thank you, Dr Marya. While fascism grows when good people remain silent and thus complicit, your voice heartens and inspires me.

I just read about you in Chris Hedges' piece "The Silence of the Damned" and want to tell you I'm inspired by your courage to speak up. Knowing about you makes me feel a little less scared to take a stand on Israel's genocide. Thank you.

I’m so sorry these institutions haven’t been protecting you while you stand up for what’s right. What a disturbingly corrupt country we live in, where someone like Alan Dershowitz can silence one of the only ethical healthcare workers in the Bay Area! Ghouls like the UCSF leadership & Nancy Pelosi are showing just how racist they’ve always been, and they’re putting every one of their nonwhite neighbors at risk of white supremacist violence. Please let us know how we can help protect and support you, especially financially if you need to take time off work to feel safe. The public needs to help fund alternatives to these racist institutions like our schools.

Thank you for this writing and your courage. It is really stark the contrast in how ucsf has approached you and how they have approached racism against Palestinians by faculty. I haven’t seen this level of censorship in academic institutions.

It is inspiring to see your resolve and bravery. It is rare amongst the largely spineless community of scientists, doctors, engineers in today's times, be it in India, U.S. or Israel.

I understand your hesitation in accusing Zionists of being “White Supremisists”. That’s a heavy charge, but I have no reluctance to do so , because I experienced all of it firsthand. My parents met in Palestine in 1946, and I was brought up with a full, honest, awareness of what Zionism represents. What I heard and saw living in Israel fifty years ago showed me a world that few ever see. Lucky for them.

My Father lost his father to Hitler, and were he alive today I can state unequivocally that he would not be surprised by the Israeli genocide. He all but predicted it. Like me, he understood the difference between Jews and Zionists, and how tragic this “experiment” is for Jews and Palestinians alike. I think Peace is possible, but it has to be dug out from beneath a blanket of hate and greed.

(I didn’t know you were on Substack, but I heard your voice only last week. The instrument I’m writing this comment on also contains your first album. I wish you safety and peace.)

Unfortunately much of the injustice is still happening in Africa. Highly recommend the documentary in the following article.

Dear Dr.Rupa Marya, this is just one of the countless tragedies that israel has inflicted on the Palestinians, and that you are so bravely speaking out against:

Palestinian mother tries to dig open her son’s grave to see him, 5 Feb 2024

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8j8aQU7qeY

“I want to see my son. He left and I didn’t say goodbye.”

A Palestinian mother tried to dig open her son’s grave to see him one last time after he was killed by Israeli air strikes and buried in al-Nasr hospital. She said he is the third of her children to be killed by Israel. His sister died a month before him.
